The month of June 2014 was abuzz with arts and cultural activities that celebrate the contributions of refugees to the UK and to bring awareness to why people seek asylum. In Wales, the Welsh Refugee Council organised activities around the city of Cardiff and Newport. For the Refugee Week, I performed at Cardiff library, Newport Leisure Centre and at the Sherman Theatre. The performance at Cardiff Library was a playful and humorous telling of traditional folklore that involve migration. At the Newpport Leisure Centre, the excerpt of The Hare and The Baboon performance received a standing ovation. The Sherman Theatre in Cardiff hosts a National Theatre Wales event Scratch That Itch. At the Sherman, I played mbira music and told a story. Other acts included drama and poetry. The Wales Millennium Centre also organised an event Finish The Story, where I teamed up with storyteller Nicky Delgado and poet Mab Jones.
